Shoe Care Guide

Taking care of your shoes properly will help them last longer and stay in great shape. Follow these simple cleaning tips for different materials:

Synthetic Leather
  • Remove dirt with a soft brush or damp cloth and let the shoes air dry naturally, avoid direct heat or sunlight, as they will dry out the materials.
  • Apply shoe polish, spray, or cream to maintain your shoes. If using a polish for the first time, test it on a small, hidden area to check for any changes in color or appearance.
  • If using a polish, apply a small amount of leather cleaner to a polishing cloth or brush and rub onto the shoes in circular motions. Wipe off any excess and let it dry.
Suede
  • Use a suede brush to remove dirt and stains. For scuff marks, rub them with a gum eraser and wipe away the rubber debris.
  • Lightly dampen a suede brush with water, add a little suede cleaner, and focus on any stained areas.
  • Dab with a clean towel to remove excess moisture, then let the shoes air dry. Once dry, apply a water and stain repellent spray to keep them protected. It’s a good idea to waterproof shoes regularly to protect the material from staining.
  • If your suede shoes get wet, first absorb as much water as possible with a dry towel or paper towel before letting them dry naturally. Avoid direct heat or sunlight, as they will dry out the leather.
Canvas
  • Use a soft brush (or an old toothbrush) to scrub away dirt.
  • Dip a cloth or soft brush in warm water and clean the surface of the shoes.
  • Stuff tissue paper inside the shoes while they air dry to help keep their shape.
  • Never put canvas shoes in a tumble dryer, as it can damage the material and sole.
General Tips
  • Never dry shoes near an open flame or artificial heat source, this can cause leather to shrink, crack, or separate from the sole. Always let shoes dry naturally at room temperature.
  • Store shoes in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight or heat.
  • Use a leather conditioner on leather shoes when they start looking dry or worn. For suede shoes, apply a suede protector before wearing them in wet or sunny conditions.
  • Avoid exposure to chemicals like solvents, acids, or even everyday substances like milk and salt, as they can damage the material. If your shoes come into contact with these, clean them immediately.
  • Always use the right cleaning products designed for your shoe material to avoid damage.
